Hunting in Uruguay Hunting in Uruguay Hunting in Uruguay Hunting in Uruguay
Uruguay is a very natural, safe and a beautiful country. Indoor Uruguay works with a serious enterprise with 20 years of experience offering different programs for the most demanding hunters in USA, Europe, Puerto Rico and Brazil.

URUGUAY DUCK HUNT
You can hunt ducks from May 1st to September 15. This trip is designed for the duck hunters.

The outfitter Eduardo has 20 years experience and he has been running this trip for more than ten years. Uruguay is a small South American country, just northeast of Argentina. It is about the same size as Pennsylvania. It is rich in agriculture especially rice, sunflower, sorghum and corn. The ducks are found in the rice area known as province of Rocha. Here there are huge marshes which are the wintering home to hundreds of thousands of ducks.

Hunting
We will have 5 morning duck hunt (suggested). We will have breakfast at the hotel and then head for the duck lagoons. Most drives to the duck lagoons are 30 minutes to 1 hour. When you get there your duck guides will be waiting for you. Most of the time we will be shooting double blinds. Each blind will have a spread of decoys. Most all the ducks will be good decoying ducks.

We will be shooting a good variety of ducks. Our main duck is the rosy billed pochard. The rosy bill is very similar in size and character with the mallards. Other species we will be targeting are silver teal, Brazilian teal, speckled teal, ringed teal, Cinnamon teal, Red shoveler, Chiloe Widgeon, brown pintail and whistling ducks. Most of the blinds are very easy to get to. We suggest you bring hip boots to hunt.

In the afternoons we will shoot either perdiz or pigeons. Eduardo and Alex will get with the group each day and advise you which species we will be after each day. For those unfamiliar with partdrige, it is an upland game bird little bigger than a quail. The perdiz will be hunted over pointing dogs. Eduardo has the best Brittanys for the perdiz shooting in Uruguay. Partdrige do not covey up like quail. They are found almost always in singles. Hunting is done with two shooters per guide and dog. Most of the walking is very easy. Lightweight hunting boots are perfect for this. You can expect to flush around 20-30 perdiz in an afternoon.

We will be shooting the pigeons over decoys. Guides will put the decoys in nearby trees and on the ground. The pigeons are quick to come in. They decoy great. As you shoot the pigeons they will be added to your decoys. These are a very large bird and they are very sporty. You can expect to fire 4-6 boxes of shells in an afternoon.

The main emphasis of this trip is the duck hunting.

Accommodations
In the extreme eastern region of Uruguay, and the province of Rocha, near the town of Chuy, outfitter Eduardo Gonzalez has contracted a new facility called Fortin de San Miguel as our primary duck hunting location. This beautiful, small hotel overlooks some incredible lagoons that hold thousands of ducks that migrate here from May-September. We are very fortunate to have this property available for our hunting program. Fortin de San Miguel has some 20 nicely decorated rooms and a huge dining room and lounge area with a panoramic view of the surrounding property. This old beautiful castle is located on top of a hill in the middle of a marsh, near the city of Chuy on the Brazilian border.

Eduardo will have his own personal chef to prepare meals for the groups. The ducks and partdrige the chef prepares are delicious. Excellent wines will be served with each meal.

Uruguay has hosted foreign sportsmen for several years and while it has not received the volume of publicity as its neighbor Argentina, the secret is starting to get out; Uruguay has a great wingshooting.

DOVE AND PERDIZ HUNT
The outfitter runs this trip from May 1st to August 1st.

High volume shooting, the best Perdiz hunting and the great operation of "Las Palmas Lodge" at the Monzon Hebert property. This is a first class hunting experience and a nice combination.

Eduardo has one of the best kennel of Brittanys in Uruguay. When you arrive in Montevideo, Eduardo's staff will met you there. They will assist the group through immigration and customs. We will have a quick hunt this afternoon. The next three days will be full hunting and the last day we will hunt the morning, then travel back to Montevideo to catch our flight to U.S. It is about 2 hour drive to the airport.

Every morning we will have a full breakfast at the lodge and then leave for Perdiz hunt in nearby fields. We have over than 500.000 acres of pastures available and exclusive for ours hunters. For those unfamiliar with Perdiz, it is an upland game bird little bigger than quail.
On a normal morning, two hunters, a dog and a guide can expect to flush 30-50 perdiz in two hours of easy walk. After this we come back to the lodge for lunch and nap.

In the afternoon we will hunt dove going to roost. You can expect to shoot 1-2 cases of shells (500-1000 shells) in an afternoon. We will return to the lodge in plenty time for a snack and a drink before dinner.

Accommodations
"Las Palmas Lodge" is one of the most important lodges in the country with 90.000 acres. It was built in 1896 and is very nice. Being so big everyone will have a single room. The lodge has 11 bedrooms, big dinning room, a swimming pool and a nice barbecue where you will taste the finest food in all Uruguay. Excellent local wines will be served with each meal. Every client who went the past seasons said the same thing: the shooting was unbelievable, great service and the food outstanding. "Las Palmas Lodge" is very quaint and quiet and offer a chance to relax and have privacy; is quickly becoming favorite of hunting groups. The atmosphere on this hunt is one of the best in the world. You do not need to worry about anything. All you do is eat, sleep, drink and shoot until you can't stand it any more.

YOU CAN HUNT DOVES ALL YEAR
The Uruguay dove hunts have it all. High volume hunting, great accommodations and food, and excellent service. You will have the great operation of "Las Palmas Lodge" and all the doves you will ever see. We rates this trip as one of the best bargains in the industry for a first class hunting experience. Without a doubt this is the best bang for the buck you will find anywhere. The outfitter Eduardo Gonzalez has 20 years experience and he has been running this trip for a long time. Uruguay is a small South American country, just northeast of Argentina. It is about the same size as Pennsylvania. Uruguay has a great wingshooting but has not received the volume of publicity as Argentina.

Hunting
We will have 3 full days and two half days shooting (suggested). Eduardo and Alex will assist the groups through customs. It is about 2 hour drive to the lodge. We will hunt this afternoon. The next three days will be full hunting and the last day we will hunt the morning, then travel back to Montevideo to catch our return flight.

The dove hunting in Uruguay is year round. The Carmelo and Colonia areas are large agricultural areas. Large tracts of sorghum and sunflower are what draws the dove to this area. On an average day expect to fire two to three cases of shells easily every day on dove. It all depends on how much you want to shoot. We encourage shooters to bring small bore shotguns 16, 20 and 28 gauges. Due to the volume or shooting and the close range shooting, there is no sense in bringing 12 gauges. The dove fly all day.

We have all eared dove, which is almost identical to the U.S. mourning dove. Every morning we will start with a full breakfast at the lodge and then leave for the dove fields. Most drives to the field are 30 minutes to 1 hour. On most days we will shoot all day with a big barbecue or "asado" in the field. The
barbecue features steaks, chicken, lamb(if you order), salads, fruits and excellent local Uruguayan wines. We will return to the lodge in plenty of time for a swim, to have a snack and a drink before dinner.
